PC speaker recommendations please

Hi, I'm looking to purchase a set of speakers for gaming, movies and music, would you recommend a set of 2.0 or a 2.1 set up and why? Also do you have any recommendations..... I've been looking at some harmon kardon soundsticks, creative gigaworks t40 and corsair sp2500

First of all.. How can you ask this question and not tell us your budget? I can recommend some nice $30,000 speakers if you'd like..

Second, your question about 2.0 or 2.1 ..? Why would you ask what we prefer on that? All the .1 means is the sub-woofer.. And, why exactly would anyone NOT want a sub-woofer? Even if it's not all about the bass... just treble.

Also, every single one you listed is actually pretty good.. The sound sticks are more aesthetically pleasing vs the SP2500, but still both sound great.

HK soundsticks are good if you like the way they look and need slim satellites, plus they look like dildos which is always a nice conversation starter. Gigaworks T40 is good  for people who really need smaller speakers and don't need/want/have room for a subwoofer. Do not buy the SP2500.

Best option, imo, are actual stereo bookshelf speakers. Micca MB42 Bookshelf Speakers + LP-2020A+ Lepai amp will run you less than a hundred bucks, and doesn't need a subwoofer.
