So I have school project, the objective here is to create something "new". I have a plan to create a game, do you guys know a nice game engine?

unity is pretty much the best thing for school projects

agreed for a school project Unity is the good choice.  but you could also try RPG Maker

Unity has built in first person assets that make it super easy to start, you could even get some extra stuff from their asset store(this might cost money) if you don't feel like coding and modeling everything yourself.

well cryengine also has a full build in shooter functionality. it even comes with a test/demo level and some assets. you could maybe even try a mod add something new to an existing game.

UDK is great, a little bit more indepth than unity but when you learn it, you can basically go to UnrealEngine4 with little problems and start doing real games :)
