Hi guys, so I know a lot of you use mechanical keyboards, and I've been really wanting one too (I have a CM STORM Devastator that sometimes needs to be re-plugged because it won't turn on when I start my computer), especially the Cherry MX Brown switch and having the RGB lights. I've been looking through many mechanical keyboards throughout the past few months, especially the Corsair K70 RGB, and Blackwidow Chroma Stealth. I had bought a "almost new" condition of the Corsair K70 RGB Cherry MX Brown, but it came out to be horrible with numerous broken keys and scratches. As a result, I immediately refunded. While it's being sent back, I have been thinking a lot about getting a mechanical keyboard or not. Don't get me wrong, Cherry Switches are amazing, and the Corsair K70 RGB is amazing too and I still want one, but I'm still debating, because the thing is, I'm a piano player, so I have pretty strong fingers. As a result Cherry Red Switches are waaaay to sensitive for me, which is why I'm still using membranes. Membranes feel alright to me and I don't get finger fatigue with a 75-80WPM. I tried out all 3 switches numerous times at Best Buy, and like the Browns the most, since they're most similar to membranes in terms of sound and finger force required. However, the Browns still seem a little more sensitive to me. Now I'm just asking you guys if I should stay with membrane or mechanical, although I like both a lot. Please leave suggestions and keyboards I should consider. Any keyboard with RGB lights and media keys with pass through are most preferred. Thanks a lot!

*I know the CM STORM Devastator feels a little like mechanical keys since the key caps are raised and make more sound, but membranes with flat key caps are cool too, although I don't usually prefer them, since they look kind of ugly haha. But all suggestions are appreciated.

It sounds like you want some sort of Cherry MX Clear keyboard to me. Rare but they exist (check out wasdkeyboards.com and make one that fits you perfectly with completely customizable keycaps if Clears are your thing). Otherwise, for membrane/rubber dome (pretty sure the K40 is a rubber dome keyboard) then the aforementioned K40 would suit you well, although it actuates a little on the fast side.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

As an owner of K70 rgb MX red i can say that build quality is top notch :)

Feels and looks sexy.

The software is piece of poo and many people have problems with keyboard beimg detected or leds working properly on Windows.

Chroma from razer is plastic but leds are brighter and software is very simple and easy to use (every reviewer will tell u that).

Since u need switches that require more force u cant go for Corsair since they dont do black, blue and green switches for their RGB line.

I believe eother MX black or MX green are the ones that require thw most force to actuate (or however is that word spelled).

I dont know about alternative (non MX switches) that are similiar but im sure someone will point u in the right direcrion :)

Oh nice, I will definitely check out Wasdkeyboard. For the K40, I have seen them and seems nice, but it doesn't have the special RGB effects like the Corsair K70 haha.

And thanks, as referring to STRMfrmXMN, I believe Cherry Clears would suit me the most. However, Razer and Corsair don't produce keyboards with those switches :( .

I like the logitech g710+ with MX Browns, not RGB but still nice.

Or look into the Logitech orion spark, its RGB, but with non-cherry switches.
