New PC USB issue.

Go to solution Solved by Trik'Stari,

Figured it out.

I booted up into safemode with networking, went to the Foxconn website, and downloaded the newest USB driver. Restarted through windows instead of letting the installation program do it for me. That seems to have fixed it oddly enough. I also check the keyboard and mouse drivers before that, and "scanned for hardware changes" and for both I got "device driver installation failed" or some such.

I guess windows decided to restart for a windows update, while I was in the middle of installing the USB driver then.

So. I just got done building my mom's new office PC, and I was doing the initial setup, installing drivers etc.

I had just installed the Chipset drivers off of the disc, LAN drivers, and USB 3.0 drivers. Then the PC rebooted. Now, upon restart, the Keyboard and Mouse will not work in any USB port. They both work in the bios, but not in windows.

Before you ask, I do not have a PS2 keyboard or mouse. Not really sure what to do at this point. Suggestions?

Right now, It's stuck at the password login screen. I forgot the cardinal rule of not setting a password during driver and updates installation.

But I did remember to leave the sides off the first time I booted it up. Which was good because I had plugged both drives in it into the SataE ports instead of normal Sata lol

I even tried my k65 in bios mode, lit up at first, as soon as I got past the bios screen it powered off. I've tried all of the USB ports as well.

I'd give it a few minutes and see if maybe it's installing drivers.

The keyboard works in safe mode. Should I boot up into safe mode with networking?

Yeah do that. The mouse still doesn't work?

Do you have a separate keyboard/mouse to use on your mum's pc? Or test have you tested them on your pc? Are the keyboard and mouse new?

I had this issue with my new build, I couldn't login with my new keyboard and mouse, so I attached an old keyboard to my pc and it worked fine. I tested the new keyboard on my old laptop and it turned out the left control was perma-stuck and overall faulty (could only be unstuck by turning control key on and off in the onscreen keyboard in the accessibility part of control panel for whatever reason). Nothing was wrong with my USBs at all.

[EDIT] Since it was a gaming keyboard and mouse and brand new, I have sent it back to get a replacement. So check it is not just a faulty mouse and keyboard before balming the USB like I did at first with mine.

[EDIT2] My keyboard also worked fine in the  BIOS, and I did not experience any issues with it until it had be turned on for a while.
