I heard it was good, but I don't like the aesthetics of it.

 

Would you consider the msi gaming one? Its red, flashy and has LED's 

It also has one of the best 970 coolers

I've considered the golden version.

 

I find msi's design to be the most attractive followed by the zotac amp! extreme and the gigabyte g1.

I can only personally vouch for the G1 since I have experience with it - it being very quiet and having great temps (hardly ever went above 60C on full load).

 

EVGA does have good coolers - using EVGA 770's in my build atm. Plus their customer service is legendary.

From what I've seen with just the normal ftw it is amazing and the ftw plus gets like 22% more performance and 6% less heat.

Gigabyte G1 has really good cooling, and best monitor port selection. 3DP 2DVI 1HDMI. However, its the largest, probably the ugliest, and also tends to be somewhat more noisy than the Strix and MSI Gaming. Its a card that looks really good on paper, and has its advantages, but not many people actually buy it, because of all its disadvantages.

 

Honestly, the choice between HOF and G1 is a no brainer - by all means, get HOF. It has the same disadvantages - huge triple-fan cooler design for one. But its better than G1 in every single way.

G1 WARNING!: The Gigabyte G1 GTX 970 is said to not work with MSI fast boot - a feature on MSI Motherboards which boots you into the OS in about 4 seconds.

This is why I chose the MSI, instead.

Works flawlessly for me!!
You can't be serious.  Hyperthreading is a market joke?
