Upgrading my GPU.

Hey guys,i wanna ask you for your opinion.I have and R7 260x Asus dual fan 2gb GDDR5 i3 4150 and 8GB DDR3 .I wanted to upgrade to a GTX 960,but when i took my friends GTX 970 the gpu usage was 98% - 100% but i was playing bf4 on the test range and Assassins creed unity(in ac u the gpu usage was dropping but it was also dropping with the r7 260x.And i also tested it on FC4  and it was locked at 98% gpu usage.So i just wanna ask should upgrade to a GTX 970 or a new CPU and use still the R7 260x....your thoughts guys?

The GTX 960 isn't that much better than the R7-260X. Maybe a 10% difference for a $200+ card.

And I'd suggest that the CPU is a bigger overall bottleneck. Although, the system is FAIRLY balanced as it is.

The Graphics card will be the limiting component in your system no matter what CPU you have in there. Your i3 is good enough for any game out there and a better graphics card will allways be worth it more, than a better CPU.

Your GPU will almost allways be at 100%.

 

I'd go for whatever fits your budget. A GTX 970 is obviously better but a GTX 960 is also a big improvement over your 260x

A 260X is not even remotely close in performance to a GTX 960. The 960 is on par, if not better than a R9 285.

The 960 performs leaps and bounds above the 260x. Were you thinking of a 270 series card? Or even a 280?

Hello there,actually the GTX 960 is 40% better then a R7 260x is even better then a R9 280.

Yes the GTX 960 also a very good card compared to my R7 260x,but i wan`t something better that has more vram,i would wait for a GTX 960ti....if it comes out.But even if it comes the GTX 970 is still better then a GTX 960.But am mostly concerned because i could not test the card with the CPU on bf4 mp 64p where i mostly play.

A GTX 960 Ti would most likeley also have the GM206 chip and 2 GB of VRAM.

Anyways, the GTX 970 is well worth the money if you use it as a single card on 1080P or even 1440P. The FPS in BF4 will be decent even on highest settings. Lower end CPus typically cause lower frame dips than stronger CPUs. Your i3 will be abled to keep up with the 970 but if frame dips were to occur, they would be deeper than with, let's say an overclocked i5.

 

Nontheless, the stronger GPU is worth it much more in your case.
