In order for Dual-Channel to function, do all 2 of the memory sticks need to be the same capacity?

No, you can do this for example: 2x2 GiB + 2x4 GiB to get 12 GiB of RAM running on dual channel

 

Oh.. That's not what i meant.

 

Will for example 4GB + 8GB work in Dual-Channel?

To minimize confusion, you can just get a kit with two modules. For example a 2 x 4GB kit or 2 x 8GB kit.

 

They will have already been tested by the manufacturer to achieve the advertised frequency and are from the same batch to ensure optimal compatibility.
