Need help with a new build

Go to solution Solved by D_loc,

I think I will go with i5 4590 or 4460 and a GTX 970. Because according to the benchmarks the performance difference between the 4690k and the 4590, 4460 at stock speeds are almost negligible. And in this way I save for the GTX 970. YAY

Hey guys. So, I am going to build a new PC. Mainly I will be playing games like Attila: Total War, Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor, GTA 5 (when it comes out), Skyrim etc. But I am stuck between two config's as I don't know which is going to be the better one. Mostly I will be playing at 1080p.

1. i5 4690k with GTX 960/ R9 280X

-or-

2. fx 8350 with GTX 970

Any advice would be nice. My budget is around 800 dollars. So I can't go with i5 4690k and a GTX 970 unless I use really crappy parts.

You don't have to get 4690K, you can get locked version like 4460 and get 970.

My heart is with AMD.

From a real perspective, the AMD FX 8350 isn't bad at all for gaming, I know many people who use the chip for gaming.

Its cheap and super overclockable.

Go with the AMD CPU and GTX 970, running games like total war and shadow of mordor are going to be better done with a much powerful GPU and has more VRAM available compared to the GTX 960 and R9 280x

But I thought that Total War games are CPU intensive games.
