Hello,

Greetings,

I have a raid-0 array and I want to change my motherboard.I know doing so will result in me losing all of my data as I am moving from a AMD to intel. The question us can I clone my array to a new HDD?I know i can off course copy data but than would mean me losing my precious C: partition and moving data from C: is something I don't want to do also I would lose my OS.So can I clone or not?

Thank you.

I know how you ca use System Image Backup and not lose your C partition if you want to move data to another HDD, but then a new trouble comes which is that it may not work I mean windows because your moving from a platform to another.

I don't understand how a platform could affect windows.

It relates to the chipset drivers, if you move to a new chipset it may work and it may not work.

Could you make a guess?

I am moving from an FX-6300 to i5 sandy bridge.

Sadly I can't.

Do you have a friend who can borrow you an external harddrive for a few days? I don't think you can migrate a hardware RAID to a different brand card/chipset. But cloning it might indeed work. Just try it.

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

My rig: The StealthRay. Plans for a newer, better version of its mufflers are already being made.

So the only way is to make a leap of faith?

I guess that's the only option.

I will be borrowing a HDD.What I am asking is if I can clone both of my drives to one drive.

Yeah I realised that later on. I edited my post soon after. I don't see why not but I have no previous experience with hardware RAID, as my system uses software RAID. From what I've heard it's totally transparent to the operating system though so I think it shouldn't cause issues.
