Crossfire help

Go to solution Solved by Enflics,

You can't crossfire them, and no it wouldn't be able to drive it.

I have an MSI r9 280x.  I do not want to buy another one because of the cost.  However the 270x looks like a good card.  I am pretty sure they can crossfire with each other but I am not positive.  Also, do you think those two cars could drive 4k.  The 3gb ram on the r9 280x will not be a problem because when directx 12 comes out you will be able to combine the ram amounts but could it drive the resolution?

You can't Crossfire those 2 and 4K would not be optimal with 2x280X

You can't crossifre them.

That said 2 280xs would be able to drive 4k, but NOT at max settings. DX12 memory sharing needs to be specifically implemented by the developers, so don't count on it actually being a thing.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

when it comes to CrossFireX you need to make sure the GPU is the same for example you can crossfire your 280x with a 280. Also with the VRam Mantle already does that and with your 280x you can already use that in games that have the Mantle API in it
