Windows 8.1 Boot Question

Go to solution Solved by wyattzx,

I look at my BIOS , the order is

1)DVD

2)SSD (OS)

3)HDD (Game)

i changed it to

1)SSD

2)DVD

3)HDD

is this correct?

but still has blinking underscore

is this okay ? should i be worried?

i record the boot

It's fixed! :) That blinknig underscore is reading the drive, and then it loads Windows! It's completely normal! Care to mark this as Answered if you're satisfied? c:

Hi

i just got my new PC about a month ago

why is my PC , when it booted up

before the windows 8.1 logo

there's just blinking underscore ? first at the top left , and then the blinking underscore jump to next line

but it still boot up normally , using ssd maybe 5-10 sec boot to desktop

and have never had any problem with it, well just 1 problem

just 1 time it stuck on windows 8 loading welcome blue screen , after that the scren got black + cursor

but i let it run till 2 minutes, and i can see the desktop again (don't know if it is a problem or not?)

isn't it used to look like this ? (well on my old PC which i buy 5 years ago , it used to be like the picture)

Make sure your boot order in your BIOS has your OS HDD/SSD selected first.

Ah , i see Thank you !

what would you recommend the bootup sequence be ?

1)SSD Samsung 120GB (ofc)

2/3)HDD WD Green 3TB , the WD Green if not in used , is turned of to save power, and usually i turn on my PC to play games on the WD Green (or DVD ROM ?)

The boot order simply sets what your BIOS checks on its bootup. For people that run Ubuntu and other OSes on Flash Drives, having their Flash Drive set first is usually nice. If it's not plugged in, it goes straight to Windows. For your case, anything after the SSD doesn't matter, unless it can't boot from the SSD. If it can't, it will check what's next in order. But since you can manually boot into devices from the boot menu, it makes no real difference. Because if you can't get into Windows, you'll likely have to reinstall from a disc or thumbdrive anyways, which you can boot into from the boot menu! Hope this helps!
