Changing major

I am currently an accounting major and honestly I do not like it all that much. I realized as of late how much more I love working with computers. I could spend hours learning about them and I want to change majors now. I just have no idea how to bring it up to my mom. I am perusing an A.A. atm with a focus in finance to transfer to a 4 year program at a regular univeristy. Any thoughts?

Do what you enjoy most (unless there is no money in it). I don't know your mother (nobody here knows your mother) so it is a little more than hard to say how to bring it up to her. Just make sure you REALLY DO enjoy working with computers more.

I do love working on computers a ton. I just checked and the classes I'm taking now I need for the computer science degree anyways. So that's a good thing.

is she paying for your college? if so, then yeah bring it up.

 

Im personally paying for my college 100% myself, which means it means nothing if they agree or not, because its my money im wasting. and if your paying for it yourself, its your right to do what you want. 

 

if shes paying for it, be gentle and make sure you bring her breakfest in bed. because thats some serious money down the drain. but better to do it now before you get deeper into it

Yeah. The main thing that may hurt you is if you have a scholarship now. Switching may lose a scholarship.

I don't have a scholarship and I'm mostly on grant money.

I started out as a Computer Science major and realized it wasn't for me a few months in. I've loved helping people throughout my life and I decided to talk to my parents about it. I was very interested in the sciences and switched my major to biology. I'm now through my first two years of medical school. Talk to your parents about switching, it's worth the hour long conversation to not be doing something your uninterested in for the rest of your life.
