hi i'm geting my friends old pc and all i wan't from it is his old hdd so i want to erase every thing so i bin looking at the program darik's boot and nuke.

my question is can i just put the hardrive in to my pc after that and i will be detected properly ? 

any one ho have joust this program and know how thw hdd will be after :)

the hdd is from his shity laptop how wuld i format it?

 

All SSDs and HDDs are formatted same way. You can use built-in windows tool for it or some 3rd party software. If you use windows and the drive already has partitions (like it should), just right click over drive and select Format from the menu.

A simple format should be fine. Once you plug it in your system, you can easily do that from the OS. If you don't have other drives there, when installing your OS you will be asked what to do and from there you can merge all partitions and format the whole drive before the installation begins. :)
 
If you want to completely wipe the drive from any data, you can perform "writing zeros" which will put a zero on every bit on the hard drive, making the data completely gone and practically unrecoverable.

thank you for the tips but i have the problem that if i put in the hdd in any system ( i have tride 3 difrent ones) i will always bot from the os that is on the old laptop hdd even if i change it in the boot options. 

 

and how would i get to that "writing zeros" option ?
