My last gaming rig took a dump dec 2013 and i've been without a rig since then. Due to me renovating my home and putting it up for sale. i didn't have the time or resources to build a new one. Now that my home is almost sold, i plan on building myself a new gaming rig with a budget of 5k which include a custom water loop. I build a new rig once every five years and only upgrade the gpu every two to three years.

CPU: Intel Core i7-5820K 3.3GHz 6-Core Processor $369.88
MOTHERBOARD: Asus X99-PRO ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard $301.79
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws 4 series 16GB (4 x 4GB) DDR4-3000 Memory $249.99
Storage:  Samsung 840 Pro Series 256GB 2.5" Solid State Drive. Paid 124.00
Storage: Plextor M6e 128GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive $116.99
Video Card: 380x est. cost 700.00
Case: Phanteks Enthoo Primo ATX Full Tower Case. Paid 159.00
Power Supply: SeaSonic Platinum 1000W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply. Paid 140.00
Keyboard: Corsair K95 RGB Wired Gaming Keyboard $189.99
Mouse: Logitech G502 Wired Optical Mouse. Paid 15.00
Monitor: budget 700

Total estimated cost rounded up: 3070.00

My old build salvage parts
 Intel 520 128gb
Western Digital WD VelociRaptor WD2500HHTZ 250GB 10000 RPM

All i need is just a good 1440p 144hz monitor

Before you say why no nvidia 980 cards, i have not brought a nivida card since 2002 or 2003. Had a very bad exp with 5900 geforce card and vowed never buy another nivida card

Whats your opinion on this rig and also point out anything i might have missed

You can save a bit of money by changing the mobo (or going to Microcenter. 299.99 for the 5820k).

Asus ROG Swift for the monitor. It's the only thing in it's class.

BOINC Setup:
i5 7200U @ Stock

Core2Duo T6600 @ Stock

i3 2330M @ Stock

i5 3210M @ Stock

I'm going to be that guy and ask why you want to go with the x99 platform?

Motherboard is also overkill just for gaming, although it is a freakkkkinnnnggg gorgeous mobo and I would buy it if I was doing a white/black color theme.

X99 is just overkill imo. A 4790k Z97 build would be cheaper and still perform at the same level. The PSU is also overkill unless you plan on going with 3/4 gpus but what you paid for it is amazing so no big deal.

The reason for the x99 is because i plan on doing a lot of dvd and bluyray conversion backing up the 200 or so dvd and blu rays i own. also some editing here and there of my home movies.

Well, it's a nice build :D

Like you said, you won't be getting a new one in quite some time, and games are being coded for more and more cores, so an Intel six core option is nice (just OC it so you could get a better per core performance)  :D

The only stuff i'd change is SSD's :D Get bigger ones :D I'd also say go with a cheaper PSU, but that PSU is balls to the walls (and you already bought it?) :D

Also, did you mean to type 390x O.o Since it's illogical to type 380x and type 700$ possible price... :D

A great build, but i'd suggest getting CF if you can (and with that budget and PSU you can) :D
