Laptop suggestions for work/school

I'm looking to get a pretty basic laptop for school and work. It will mostly be document editing, programming with some occasional image editing. Will also be doing basic internet stuff such as videos and such. My budget is pretty much less than $1000. The cheaper and lighter the better as ill probably be carrying it around quite a bit.
