Hey,

Any tips on decreasing lag from my friends hamachi server? I also have been getting higher ping to public server. I have tried changing my dns server's and trying different cables. Thanks!

You Should Try Hosting The Server Yourself

The only thing I can really think of is perhaps allocating more ram to the server, failing that, you might want to look into more processing power on your end. I'm no expert though, so the only suggestion I can offer is invest into a better processor... xD not sure if this type of application would require more speed or more cores though.

about 2 gb because my friend thinks he uses all 16gb but barely uses 8gb lol

well depending on how many concurrent players there are, I'd just suggest boosting it up a bit seeing what happens, just gonna have to convince your mate he's not using that much haha xD

There is about 5 players on simultaneously. Also, I have told him to increase the RAM but says it doesn't matter. The server usage on RAM is about 80%.

I am almost certain it is the fact that its hamachi. vanilla 1.8 should be fine with 2gb of ram as long as you aren't exploding TNT 24/7 or having hundreds of players on at once.

Sooo you gotta either portforward that baby or its just going to continue to lag.

Is it bad that my dream setup only costs a few thousand not counting the obutto?

I'll try to ask him to send me the file of the world so I can host it.

vanilla minecraft 1.8.1 its an smp server

Use some more ram and portforward. That is the best thing really. It may be your internet connection speed but if you aren't more than 5-10 players at ones and you don't have any demanding plugins, the internet speed shouldn't be the issue (or if you guys are blowing up tnt/spawning stuff like crazy).

Look here to learn how to allocate more ram to the server:

Look here on how to port forward:

Check here:

http://setuprouter.com/

Look for the router brand and model and see if there are instructions on how to port forward.

He might be right, I don't know if all routers can be port forwarded (I would think any modern router should be able to port forward, but if you have one from your ISP then it may not work. I have no idea.)
