It really depends on the person, to be honest

Some of us go for five years without rebuilding or upgrading our PCs, and then there are some of us who have computer-building fetish addictions and are constantly building/rebuilding our computers because we can. And everyone in between.

Basically, you upgrade whenever it suits you. Some people are perfectly happy on Core 2 Duos, because they're cheap, efficient and they're still solid processors for just general stuff. I myself am sitting on several 3-year old platforms.

I would like to know when and how often do you guys upgrade your pc? Yearly? Evry 2 years?

And if so how much do you spend on it?

I just try to get a feel for how often I need to upgrade my pc parts too play the recent games at at least decent settings

Performance Upgrades like GPU or smth every 2-3 years, things that improve the look of PC everytime. Watercooling is a upgrade you make after 1,5 years :P

CPU: Xeon 1230v3 - GPU: GTX 770  - SSD: 120GB 840 Evo - HDD: WD Blue 1TB - RAM: Ballistix 8GB - Case: CM N400 - PSU: CX 600M - Cooling: Cooler Master 212 Evo

I would never upgrade as soon as a new say GPU series came out, I was sitting on a GTX 580 and 3770k and had no performance problems, even in games like Farcry 4 and battlefield 4,

then when the 980 came out i figured it was time to dust of the screwdriver and upgrade.

I do casual stuff, League of legends/Dota 2 mainly, completely fine for this

It is only struggling to play 4K video when I try to play from youtube

anybody has suggestion which hardware should I upgrade?

I assuming, If I put another 4gigs of ram I should be fine for 4k playback, correct me if I am wrong
