For just gaming, I would go with an i5, but since your budget is high, you can just stick with the 4790k. The audio technica 2020, from what I heard is better than the Yeti, since the yeti is super sensitive.

Windows can be bought from here www.reddit.com/r/microsoftsoftwareswap

and i personally would throw in a 2tb caviar black because games are getting bigger and bigger.

i also would get a custom sleeved powers supply cables for the 24 pin and the 8 pin because they are built in and are really really ugly

There is overkill. But to my mind the important issue is the relatively poor quality of psu. It is not a bad unit, but a ~$2,500 build deserves a much better unit. Something like the EVGA 220-G2-0750-XRCorsair HX750, Antec HCG-750M, XFX P1-750B-BEFX, or SeaSonic SSR-750RM.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

I just pasted out your build to make it easier for people. Generally it is helpful if you do this, instead of posting a link.

For 1080p you should be fine with a single 970 for most games, however there will be certain games that you might not be able to *max* out.

I would swap your PSU to something like an evga 650/750w supernova G2 which should be similarly priced. I just feel that efficiency should be at least gold rated. For gaming strictly you only need to get an i5-4690k, but the i7 gives you headroom if you ever want to get into streaming/editing/rendering.

Looks good, only thing i would change since you have some wiggle room is bump up the mobo to a Gaming 7

This is not a smart thing to do. For 1080p buying 2 980's is simply useless and very overkill.

OP is asking for a build that would max games at 60 fps @ 1080p.

Shouldn't be throwing out ideas simply because it fits his budget.

Go with an IPS screen for the 2nd display. You don't really need a 144Hz panel for watching youtube/movies etc.

A single GTX 970 should give you 60 FPS on most games at 1080p. You can always add a 2nd card later on.

that entire thing will be over kill for 1080, that thing could easily play most games at 4k, maybe a few AAA titles will lag a bit in the future but that's a beast build

Broke 14 Year old + No job + Love for Technology = Bad combo :(
