PC is beeping like crazy

Hello there forum members,

I am having an issue that has been repeating itself fairly often. My PC would restart and then instead of booting, it would beep around 60 times and restart itself and repeat this until I would turn the PC off. Everytime this happened, I would clean my RAM dimms and reset Bios and everything would be fine. Well, not today.

 

Anything that I've tried hasn't worked. I tried changing the Mobo, I even tried different RAMs but nothing. PC just keeps beeping and doesn't work. Has any of you had this kind of problem or do you know how to fix this? I would be grateful for any ideas.

 

My specs are:

 

Intel i3-2120

Gigabyte Z77X-D3H

Asus GTX 560 Ti

Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600 MHz

Corsair CX600

I've had a similar problem, I forgot to plug the CPU 8-pin power into the board XP... I was distracted...

You've determined that it isn't the MB or RAM. If your CPU is old, and this has been happening more and more frequently as time went on, it sounds like it might be the CPU.

 

Even if it's just for a limited time, does it boot to the BIOS?

I've doublechecked that everything is connected. I built my PC in early 2013 so I don't think CPU is the problem. I will try changing it though and post an update.

 

And no, it doesnt boot even for a second so I can't really get to BIOS

Here are some of the different beep codes, you need to know the BIOS manufacturer though.

Huh. It's sounding more like the PSU then, if it just goes on then off immediately.

Before you check that, though, what exact pattern in the beeping with your computer? You motherboard uses an AMI bios.

I will look for a new PSU, I tried changing the CPU but the problem still exists.

 

Just tried to count the beeps and it is 50ish short beeps...

Are they all the same tone, or is it two-tone? I'm using the same chart you posted, by the way.

They sound the same so I doubt is is a two-tone...

I can't actually find ~50 beeps on any charts.

There is a continuous fast beep for IBM board that means there's an issue with power (Again on the chart), but your BIOS isn't IBM soooo...

Yeah, I can only think of the PSU. You should try to get a replacement for that, or at least just another one to test it with, 'cause that's all I've got.

In the mean time, maybe someone else can offer a more concrete answer.

lol if it's a rapid beep, then pull out your RAMs and sit them back in.

Yes, I shorted out the CMOS switch and it didn't help.

He switched motherboards to test.

Eh, still worth a shot in the meantime though.
