planning on making a backplate for my 7870 Myst Ed. because the pcb sagging is just freaking terrible, anyone have suggestions/guides/measurements? other pcb reinforcement/support tips are welcome :D
(using the x2 6pin cables as a temporary support atm, propped it up so that it'll straighten out the pcb)

Contact dwood with the measurements of your card. 25 bucks I think, I almost went through him to get a backplate but decided to just replace the card. He lives inside of OCN.

Yeah you can use the pci-e cables to hold your card up for a few minutes, don't leave it like that. You can use fishing wire but it'll look bad. I have the case on it's side and kind of push the end of the vid card's pcb towards the ram while screwing the bracket down very tight. It should almost look like it is going to be bending upwards now but when you set her the right way up, should look normal.

You can like... Hold up the end of the pcb and tighten the screws gently. When you wrench down on the screws youre only helping the card sag.

No... better. Turn your rig upside down and let the card sag "up" while you tightening the screws gently.

Doesn't hurt to remount the cooler sometimes. There can be some unwanted tension and warping with these fat heatsinks and memory heatplates all screwed tight on the same pcb.
