I have to get a new PSU to help trouble shoot a problem that I'm pretty sure my PSU is causing. I saw this and I was surprised it was only $50 on Amazon. But I really never knew EVGA for making power supplies. Can anyone vouch for it, so far everything checks out. Also is it enough power for an i5-4690 and a gtx 970?

EVGA generally has good PSUs. Also, if they have a (10?) year warranty it usually means they are willing to stand by it for replacement because it's unlikely it will fail. Or something like that.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

EVGA themselves don't make is but the 500B is a pretty good PSU. However you could probably find the S12II 520 from seasonic for a similar price and the S12II is quite a bit better

This is why you should not get an FX CPU for ANY scenario other than rendering on a budget http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/286142-fx-8350-r9-290-psu-requirements/?p=3892901 http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/266481-an-issue-with-people-bashing-the-fx-cpus/?p=3620861

The warranty duration depends on the product. It depends on the suffix I believe of the product name

The 500B aren't massively great compared to their G2 etc, but are better than Corsair CX series etc at the very least

The EVGA 500B is an decent entry level PSU and would be fine for your system. Another option may be the Rosewill Capstone 450w for $10 more: http://www.amazon.com/Rosewill-Certified-Power-Supply-CAPSTONE-450/dp/B006BCKDGW

It's a higher-end unit, that will be better build, perform better electrically, more efficient, and has a longer 7 year warranty than the 500B.

If you don't mind doing rebates, the 550w variant can be potentially cheaper than the 450w: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182068

There's one of the best opinions you're going to get on it.  It seems to be decent for the price.  I picked up one from newegg yesterday for 49.99 + 10 rebate. For that price I imagine it's more than fine.

When this is a landslide better and is currently $40, forget the 500B.
