Probably one of the best headsets I've ever used, liked it more than my turtle beach ones and my friend's astros.

Decent mic (in a gaming clan)

great sound

This for the headset:

http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-M30-Professional-Closed-back-Headphones/dp/B00007E7C8/ref=sr_1_1?m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1372564634&sr=1-1

And this for mic:

http://www.modmic.com/collections/frontpage/products/modmic

I have this as a setup and love it, the ATH-M30's are amazing headphones for the price and the modmic has amazing sound and flexibility and it will save you about $20-$30 buying this than most gaming headsets and you will get better sound.

The only Headset I have seen that has as good of sound as the ATH-M30's are the Corsair Vengeance 2000 and those are a maybe when it comes to music as well as gameplay.

How is Razer surround? I have heard that sometimes it can make no sound what so every to be played back.

Well my experience is good. It is a lot better than dolby headphones. Makes me regret buying the xonar DGX

not sure about getting the ath-m30 for gaming Sound stage on my ath m50 ($160, higher end) was not bad but i got equal soundstage with a pair of vengeance 1300 ($70). so I'm assuming the m30 won't be as good as m50. Also, mod mic is nice but it still isn't as elegant as a proper headset. I liked the SS 7H because of retractable mic. My god does that make a difference on picking up my breath. Sound quality for music is pretty good (obviously not as good as my m50) and sound stage is pretty good too. i accidently destroyed my pair and decided to get a pair of vengeance 1300 as i was short on money. It's a nice pair though the 7h are nicer

Hmmm I went from 2000 to my m-30's and saw a quite big difference in games and all around all sounds. Maybe it was just my pair of 2000's but oh well.

They are extremely good for price if he doing gaming and only gaming then yes gaming headset but if he's on youtube, playing music, amking videos, and gaming I think ATH-M 30's or M 50's are the way to go just do to how good they are all around.

ad700's are about the best you can do around $100

modmic or zalman clip on might push it just past $100, but it would be worth it.

Will work for electronic components and parts
