Not likely, you'd have to hunt ebay. There were limited quantities through best buy, but most that got those got them (like me) for the cooler since they were more expensive

OCUK sells their own 970 reference cooler variant, but again more expensive, you likely bought it for the cooler. 

You could maybe strap a different reference cooler, like idk a 980 one if it fits.

Your best bet might be to find a bricked reference 970 and swap the cooler. If you find one cheap enough that is.

you generally dont find bricked cards that are still in warranty, unless they killed them by overclocking, which is rare these days

be sure it will fit I've had loads of problems with custom PCBs specially were the VRAM & MOSFET are placed

If he only needs the cooler, does it matter whether it is under warranty or not?

what I'm saying is the 970 is too new. If anyone had a dead card, they are most likely going to send it in for a replacement rather than sell it.
