Hey guys, I am currently building my first pc for gaming and finding out there is a lot more to then I thought. I want to build a Mid Tower computer for gaming at 1080p and able to handle a high refresh rate. I play Mobas competitively, and would like to play other games that might need a little more kick like BF4 and AC Unity and I would prefer if I could use two monitors. For awhile I was going to get a i7-4790k paired with a GTX 980, but now I think that might be overkill and I'm just not sure. What do you think I should use to run the games I play?

For Mobas you don't really need a impressive PC to get a decent framerate.

LoL for example: runs at stable 60fps in 5 year old toasters. Dota 2 is a bit more demanding.

I don't really know what you are aiming for, but an R9 280X or GTX770 should be enough to play BF4 on ultra at 60fps.

Just make sure that you get a good CPU such as FX series by AMD or i7 by intel. Also, don't be scared of mixing AMD CPU with nVidia GPU or intel CPU with AMD GPU.

There's no real downside to it and some combinations even get better performancE!

If you still have doubts about this, you can check a pretty cool Price / Performance calculation for CPU and graphic cards or you can just look on youtube how the game runs on the hardware you want :)

I support AMD because I support competition in the hardware market. We all know if the "other guys" had a complete monopoly, things wouldn't get any better for ANYONE..

Ok so I just threw this together but take a look and tell me what you think.

If this is your first build I would change this:

1.- No "gaming" keyboard

2.- No sound card - Motherboards come with this integrated.. waste of money and space unless your job is producing music

3.- Cheaper case - having the words "Razer" in the name makes stuff expensive somehow ;P

4.- No custom cooler - unless yo uare in a very hot enviroment or plan on doing some heavy overclocking this is kinda pointless, specially for your first build.

Also, make sure to NEVER  defrag your SSD

Otherwise, this is a decent build and I hope you save some money from those "luxuries" i pointed out
