I just saw in linus' review of the GS30 Shadow, how does a laptop with raid have a 4.3sec boot time?

Probably specifically optimized raid drivers for this specific laptop

 

Raid in a PC is generic, you can do anything to it whereas laptop raid is usually very specific (4x128GB SSD's in the GT80 Titan anyone?) which might allow for rapid boot times. THis means they probably made their own very specific raid drivers and might not be easy to swap to different drives just like that

Even my desktop with a 840 evo doesnt boot that fast....

Even my desktop with a 840 evo doesnt boot that fast.... 

Not counting the time it takes for my board to do all its preliminary bios shit and the mobo logo screen mine takes about 4-5 seconds (MEasured it yesterday). This is on an 840 EVO not in rapid mode

Ah without bios mine boots around the same as yours! With rapid mode on LOL (does the rapid mode help at all)

Rapid mode is fantastic when moving files smaller than the cache size. Once it exceeds the cache size is barely makes a difference

That's what rapid mode is: RAM caching. It takes up to 1.5GB or 25% of your RAM, whichever is lowest

That's what rapid mode is: RAM caching. It takes up to 1.5GB or 25% of your RAM, whichever is lowest
