Is it okay to saw a HD tray? (pun kinda intended)

Rafayellow

I just bought a new gpu which wont fit into my case unless I cut a small retangular section of the drive tray. The guy on the computer store says it would reduce life time of my gpu because things would get "too tight". I think he's only trying to get me to buy a new case since there is no cable tension whatsoever and there is more than apropriate cooling to the whole case.

But I am concerned about getting another kind of damage like vibration on the HD on the tray or something else I might be missing.

So, should I just cut it or a new case is actually in order?

Many thanks!

lol how would being 2 tight cause any issues besides air flow It and if your only cutting a small chunk out of the cage then your fine.

your right it sounds like he was trying to make more money off of you

If I were him I would of tried to sell you a dremel or some cutting bits

as long as there's enough airflow it's not a problem at all, i've dome it in the past and everything is still working fine
