Hey guys,

So I've been trying to overclock what according to most people say should be the easiest processor to overclock, my pentium g3258. I set my cpu ratio to 4.4ghz and ran benchmarks and stress tests, and my computer passes all of them just fine. I have tried 4.0ghz at 1.3v to 4.5ghz at 1.35v all the way to even 4.0ghz at 1.38v. My temps are just fine idling at 29-32 degrees and hovering around 65-70 degrees under full load. However if I boot up my computer from a "cold" start (boot up after a long period of non-use) it will work for about 10 to 15 minutes or so then completely shut down showing the the "previous overclock settings has failed", but I simply can just enter my BIOS and use the same OC settings and the computer will last the entire rest of the day without any problems. I have already tried a 2nd pentium which gave me the exact same results.

Any ideas?

Intel Pentium g3258

MSI Z97 SLI-G55 Motherboard

EVGA GTX 970 FTW

Corsair Vengeance 8GB RAM

Corsair CX750M PSU

Samsung 840 EVO 120gb SSD

WD BLACK 1TB.

Enermax Black twister tower cooler.

Thanks~

I have left my voltages in [auto] as well letting my MOBO do the work, but still no dice.

nononononono don't let your Motherboard do it.

Try 1.3v at 4.6Ghz. That's pretty standard for the Pentium K

Try watching this mate! Also that voltage is way too much for a haswell at the clock

That is the very video that got me into buying a pentium as my first unlocked processor. I have tried almost all the different GHz-voltage combos possible, and each time the cpu passes stress tests just fine, it really is just on COLD starts that it fails. But after it reboots once, I can run nearly any overclock setting for the rest of the day without any problems. At this point, I may just try an entirely new MOBO.
