WAN 0.0.0.0

Go to solution Solved by BuntzenB,

Just plugged the ethernet to my laptop

Its not working at first it just said unidentified network

But after 5 mnts

The pc said would you like to share blabla

I said no

And now the internet work

So it means that the problem is the router right?

It would seems like it. Reset it and try again with the router.

Today when my modem and router is turned on

I push the power button at the back of my router (Tp link) and then turn it on again

Now i cannot connect to internet

And now my Ip address , subnet mask , dns become 0.0.0.0

And when i click the renew button

It just refreshes and still 0.0.0.0

I already tried to

Turning off the modem by unplugging from power strip for a minute

And then turning off the router by unplugginf from the power strip for a minute

And then turning on the modem till i get 4 lights (internet)

Then the router

But still cant connect

Help please

Try plugging your computer directly to the modem instead of through the router. If this doesn't work, your problem is with your ISP. If it works then the problem is either a config error on the router (unlikely if you didnt change anything) or the router may be toast.

When in doubt, re-format.

Reset router. Probably by holding down some button for awhile - look in manual for how to do that.

I just tried to plug my modem to laptop

But i dont know if its correct or not

http://media.cox.com/support/images/internet/equipment/connection_diagrams/ethernet_modem_computer.jpg

I plug my modem cable to my laptop which has the 3 square icon like the image

Is that correct?

Now my laptop from wifi icom change to ethernet icon , but its still limited

Does this mean the problem is the isp?

But how coincidence it is if its the isp

Because after i turn off and turn on my router

The internet stopped 1 seconds later

I havent tried to connect the modem to pc directly

Because i dont know where to plug (sorry dont know this stuff)

Update : for some reason now my modem is taking so long to get 4 lights

The 4th light is the online light

ok, so your modem will have 3 cables on the back, 1 for power, 1 for your phone line or coax cable (depending on your ISP) and the last one is the ethernet cable that goes into your router. What I am saying is take that ethernet cable from the modem and plug it directly into your pc's ethernet port. If your pc doesnt have one (like a macbook air or some ultrabooks) you can use a console like a ps3/4 or xbox to plug in directly just to see if youre getting internet.

Basically this is all just to test whether your router is dead or whether you need to contact your ISP to replace your modem.

PS. this is all assuming that you have a separate modem and router. If you only have one "magic internet box" ie. a modem/router combo from your ISP, then you will need to contact them regardless.

When in doubt, re-format.

Reset the router to default setting?

So reinstall ?

I dont know how to install it again

Because the first time

I called a service who installed the router

What did they help with? Like they physically installed it or did the settings? This will reset the settings because whatever the "installers" did, they screwed up your router.

What router do you have exactly?

Just did the reset factor 3 times

the first 2 , the WAN still 0.0.0.0

and the third time , i let my pc idle for 10 minutes on the tp link 192.168.1.1

and then the WAN is not 0.0.0.0 anymore !

thanks  :)
