Attempting to reformat USB, getting error message

Simon Sniffcock

A friend of mine gave me his USB for me to fix because it wasnt showing up in my computer. I took the USB off him and went into partition manager to reformat it hoping it would work. It shows up as Disk 4 but only 4MB RAW. When i right click then format it gives me an error message, the USB should be 32GB. Any help would be appreciated, cheers.

Try right clicking on "My Computer">Manage>Disk Managment and select the flash drive and there should be options there with formating.Try to do it from there

Im guessing you need to mark it(or assign) somehow to the "H:\" then format it.Or try to format it in different formating type.

i went into 'change drive letter and paths' there is no 'H' when i try the other letters i get a message saying 'The parameter is incorrect'

Try a different USB port.  I had the same issue occur from a faulty front panel port.  Replacing the panel was a pain though.

My PC specifications are in my profile.

Is it an USB stick?  Do you have any others?  Flash drives are relatively cheap.
