This has been an issue that has bothered me ever since i refunded my overheating ge70 msi Apache for my custom build.  It goes without saying that my computer now is faster, cooler, and overall a more enjoyable experience than my laptop could have given, but seeing now that advancements in cooling, energy savings, display, and graphics on laptops, im feeling a bit of guilt about giving up so fast on laptops.  So im just looking for some sway either way, laptop or custom, as the superior platform for someone who wants the most out of their games, but also lan's and partys a lot.  Maybe a M-ITX build is a better idea, im not sure?  Im also not one to sit in front of a 14" laptop either, i do prefer my 24" screen, but i hate the bulk of my build, even in the HAF-XB Evo.

Well. If you wanted a fun build time you could work on making a pocket PC (mitx). Or you could see about grabbing a Brix.

I do see your pain though. I love the mobility of a laptop, but for the same price as a good laptop, you can build an epic custom tower...

My "ingenious" idea was to sell my current computer, keep the monitor, keyboard, and mouse, and purchase an alienware 17 for 1800$, and just keep it hooked up to my setup when im home, and take the laptop, mouse and headset when im laning or etc.

i like, can't stress enough staying away from Alienware. They don't make bad laptops, but they overcharge them to hell and back.I'd really suggest looking at MSI or Asus for a gaming laptop, you can get a whole lot more power for a whole lot less price :3

Well i have serious trust issues with msi rn, with my overheating ge70, and a failed motherboard ive had to get a refund for...not a fan. Ive lookd into asus, and my friend has an rog laptop, but its not my style id guess. Alienware just seems to be my fit and finish rn with no one else making a desktop replacement laptop that strikes me.
