Node 304 Air cooling

Quick question:

I'm thinking of moving from my prodigy to the smaller Fractal Node 304, and i'm wondering what's the largest air cooler i could fit in.

I'm looking at the Dark Rock 3, but i'm not sure it'll fit. If not, i'm thinking of just getting the Shadow Rock Slim

My mobo is a p8z77i deluxe too.

Coolers up to 165mm should fit.

 

What matters is the position of the CPU socket on the board. By the looks of it, your mobo has good socket positioning. 

The Dark Rock 3 should fit in the Node 304. On some motherboards, even the huge NH-D14 fits in the tiny case. Heck, even the monster Cryorig R1 fits in there as well.

I have the Gelid Black Edition cooler in my node 304 and it fits as well.

You can fit tower CPU cooler up to 165mm so Dark Rock 3 should fit I believe as it have 160mm height

I'm worried mostly about having to remove the hard drive cages, which i absolutely need. Would it be an issue do you think?

You only need to remove 1 cage if you plan to install a graphics card. Other than that, all cages can stay without interfering with anything.
