Motherboard gigabyte z97x gaming 5 (ATX)

CPU Intel Core i7 4790K / 4 Ghz - 8 MB cache

GPU AMD Radeon R9 290X 4GB

RAM Kingston HyperX FURY Black Series 2 x 8GB DDR3

Harddrive 1 Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB

Harddrive 2 Kingston HyperX 3K 240GB

Case NZXT crafted series phantom full tower

Main goal is a gaming pc which can record high quality videos

No need for monitors/keyboard and such as I already have them from my previous pc.

Now I am new here so I hope this is the information needed.

I have some questions

1. Would this work?

2. There are so many R9 290x types, which would be the best choice?

3. What would be the best power supply for this setup?

Thanks in advance to anyone willing to answer my questions

One SSD is plenty for a gaming rig, switch the 240 out for a 2TB WD Black or equivalent.

I'd go with a 650w 80+Gold, from whatever brand you prefer.

The 290x reference is fine, but the non-reference boards will generally run cooler and OC better.

It should work if you set it up right :)

Edit: Also don't forget your OS!

for recording gameplay, I would recommend an nvidia gnu because of shadowplay, OR getting an external capture card.

on an unrelated sidetone, the macbook I am currently using autocorrects "Shadowplay" to "shadowily"

When in doubt, re-format.

1. Yes, that would work. If you're not sure, use https://de.pcpartpicker.com/parts/partlist/

2. Definitly not a reference card. Sapphire makes usually really good cards. I can also recommend one from Gigabyte or MSI.

3. 650W / 700W Something 80+ bronze at least from a trusted company like EVGA, Cooler Master, Seasonic, Corsair, ......

AMD has a similar functionality, if I recall correctly.

Thanks guys!

The reason I have 2 ssds is because of two reasons

1 I will get the 120 gb for free

2 I need the high writing speed for my recording software but 120 gb is just too small as it will fill up quickly (uncompressed AVI)

(I might add a 3rd non-ssd later on)

What is the big difference between gold and bronze aside from the price?

You don't need that high of writing speed, not even for uncompressed AVI.

I've easily recorded dual 2560x1080 monitors onto a 7200RPM black drive.

If you have the 120 for free, get 2x 2TB Blacks: record to one, game off the other.

As far as gold... Better efficiency.
