Hi guys,

I tried searching for an answer to this, but frankly I got lost.

I keep reading/hearing that, when air-cooling your case, you should try to maintain neutral air pressure, or positive air pressure. To keep it neutral you'd use, for example, two fans taking air in and two fans exhausting air. My question is: How does the size of your fans factor in to this?

For instance, on my Corsair Carbide Spec-01, how would two 140mm intake fans on the front and three 120mm exhaust fans on the back and top even out? What kind of air pressure would I end up with, and would it be 'neutral' enough for adequate air flow with not too much dust build up? I'm not looking for specific numbers, since I haven't decided on fans yet, but just a general guestimate or percentual approach would be great!

Thanks in advance,

Seph

Fans come with specifications on how much air they can move at max speed (CFM), looks up your fans specs and do some math and you have a pretty good idea on whether you will have positive or negative air pressure

Hi, welcome to the forum. You should check the fan's specifications, they will give an amount of airflow, use that data to find the total input/output airflow (it will not be 100% of the values but should give an idea)

Planning on trying StarCitizen (Highly recommended)? STAR-NR5P-CJFR is my referal link

So, getting three exhausts at 82.6 CFM vs. two intakes at 96.5 CFM would leave me at a negative pressure of 54.8 CFM. Is it possible to run the intakes at max all the time and turn the exhausts down? And, if so, any tips on that? Thanks for the feedback btw!

Just have 2 140mm's intaking and 2 120mm's exhausting air out, that will give you with slightly more positive air pressure. But try to ignore CFM readings they are usually revy inaccurate and besides pos or neg pressure doesn't matter to that extent.
