Hey guys so so far I got a few parts from my computer my case psu and a few fans (I know it's not nothing important yet, but I tried to test my psu to see if the fan spins o plugged it in and nothing happend, should the fan spin? Or do I have to plug it into a mobo for it to start spinning? Thanks

What PSU do you have? Some of the corsair power supplies fans don't spin up until the PSU is under a decent load...

 

For the PSU fan, you should never have to plug it into the motherboard unless you have modded the PSU in any way.

FWIW,In order for the PSU to start it needs an 'ON' signal from a mobo however you can trick it into thinking the mobo has been turned on by taking a straighted paper clip(or spliced wire) and bridging the green pin on the PSU's 20+4 pin connector with one of the black pins next to it, it should turn on when this is done.

 

p.s : Don't do this with the psu plugged in and don't touch the bridge when it's on.
