Difference between aio and custom

Go to solution Solved by Faceman,

If you're at all interested in watercooling both your CPU and GPU, I wrote this guide:  How to Water Cool your CPU and Single GPU for Under $200 USD.  Give it a read, see if that is something you would be interested in.  My temperatures are incredible considering how little I paid.

Hello,

Can somebody tell me the temperature difference between an AIO and a custom watercooling sistem for cpu ? I want to know if is worth the difference or is just 3-4 degrees.

And if is not a big difference,

Raijintek triton 240

CM 280L

CM 240M

Alphacool eisberg 240

H110

Thermaltake 3.0

wich is better and silent ?

And if i want a silent case, shoud i choose a noctua nh-d15 instead ? Or a watercooling sistem with noctua fans ?

Thank you,

it's not worth the price difference (period).

NHD15 would be the quietest.

Cooler Master Nepton 240M, gives you Noctua silence, with 240mm radiator performance.  No need to change the fans or anything.  Done.

Custom loop is just not worth it other than as a hobby.

it's purely an enthusiast-grade investment. No big advantage for 99% of users, it costs at least twice as much and needs to be maintained regularly. The only advantage for a typical gamer would be the ability to heavily overclock your GPU.

another option might be the Swiftech H220X which is a "semi-closed" loop which can be easily expanded to include GPUs or add radiators, change tubing, etc. although it might need to be rinsed every 6 months.

If you love being able to build something to your own specifications and don't mind the extra cost and time investment, custom watercooling can be a fun project.

I would suggest H240X from Swiftech. Gosh that cooler is so awesome!

Even though it is an AIO Liquid cooler, it isnt a closed loop. You can always add another component to the loop. I get no more than 50*C on stock speeds with that 5820K and even when overclocked, keeps it low and quiet....

Lol my AMD motherboard and CPU disagree with you on that one!  :D

Over here with an AMD FX-8320 on an Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2, Asus R9270-DC2OC-2GD5, Samsung 840 Pro 256, 2x8 GB GSkill Trident DDR3-2400, Fractal Arc Midi R2

I was using the CM Glacer 240L with stock fans. I had better than expected results at first. Idle temps about 30C ad 36-37C under normal conditions and when trying to push

the CPU I still did not even hit 50C under 100% load. Mother board temps were 3-4C less than the CPU at all times. Not sure if that is typical

Well, about 3 weeks into this build, the pump died. These Glacier Pumps seem to have a high rate of failure. Not sure what the deal was because the Glacer pump is said to be a de-badged Swiftech pump that was found on the H220. Now it was even said on these forums by someone who spoke to Swiftech and CM, that the Glacer was an improved H220 and since the USA could not get the H220 during all that legal mumbo jumbo, this was a chance for the US market to grab an H220. But with a better pump and more robust fans. Better pump? If it did not die, I would say the Glacer was just an incredible unit. The failure with the pump was the only negative and other than that, it is my #1 choice. Even other units that have better specs on paper don't seem to perform as well. But CM claims the Nepton performed better and that the Glacer was designed for those wanting to expand later

So..

CM Glacer is a collaboration with Swiftech

I hear CM Eisberg is collaboration with Alphacoo

Is CM Nepton an exclusive offering by CM?

I'm leaning towards the Alphacool Eisberg. Expandable, strong pump made in germany and said to be over-manufactured, and of great quality. Also, the fans are re-badged NoiseBlocker Eloops which are great for radiators with great static pressure, ample CFM, and quiet. A future Radiator upgrade to the Alphacool Monsta and maybe a reservoir and I would be in enthusiast territory with a very respectable loop. I could get started with an Alphacool Eisberg for $96 USD after a $10 discount.
