Hello everyone,

My friend is building his first Computer and dose a lot of gaming on Civ 5, EU4, banished. With the new system he might expand into more games like far cry or what not. He has a very tight budget and is stuck between an FX 8350, I5 4460, I5 4690k. Which one would give him the best price to performance for multi threaded games.

Thank you,

Josh

i5-4690K hands down...with a Z97 motherboard.

If this is overpriced (probably is) then the i5-4460 and a cheap H97 motherboard is the next best thing...

AMD FX for these games is like...down there bellow...do not buy that it's crap for gaming.

Take out the AMD CPU away from the equation (weaker single cores). The 4460 is adequate, but if he wants to overclock go with the K processor.

There would be no point in getting a 4690K with an H81 board... A 4440 with an H81 would be good.

isn't the I5 4690 a better chip? or is the performance negligible when dealing with that baord

You'll litteraly be wasting money... No point in a K Series CPU with out a Z series MoBo... You can use the money you save by that Combo on a better GPU...

Well what if he got a i5 4690, none K

The performance gains still, would be negligible... The money your saving with the 4440 could easily be put into, say a better GPU.

Well what if he got a i5 4690, none K

i5-4440 and H81 board is cheap as it gets.

i5-4460 or i5-4590 and H97 motherboard is a little better (CPU is clocked a little faster and the motherboard has more features and connectivity)

if you need more than that then it's the unlocked i5-4690K and Z97 motherboard that way he could overclock the CPU and get more out of it, the other cpu are locked therefore no overclocking (not required)
