Hey,

i was searching a gpu and i thougt on an older graphics card like the radeon hd 7770 or 7790.

My Question is if it's good to have features like 2+ GB GDDR3(Sorry typing error, i mean GDDR5) or DirectX 12.

Older gpu's are still powerful, but older tech. Is that bad or can i go with it?

Edit: And also whats generally about second-hand gpu's? Are the worth it or mostly just trash? Any experiences?

Tim

My PC specs: Intel Core i7-920, Gigabyte EX-58 Extreme, 9GB Corsair XMS3, Gigabyte GTX 670 Windforce, 1TB WD, Be Quiet Straight Power 10 500W

1. YOu want GDDR5, not GDDR3

2. 2GB+ at the least for 1080p

3. DX12 is not for older cards

Well, something like a 7850/7870/270 or 7950/7970/280/280x would be worth the extra money.

A 7770/7790 is equivalent to a 260/260x and both are pretty cheap budget cards, and would do if on a very tight budget, but aren't ideal.

You also want a GPU with GDDR5, not GDDR3, and DX12 won't be readily used for a couple years, by which time neither a 7770/7790 will be applicable anymore.

Are the 7770 or 7790 able for Crossfire, because i want that option for a future pc upgrade, without having to throw my old gpu out. So i could use both?

Some old high-endcards still perform decently if you can get them cheap. A GTX 580 for example is pretty good by todays standards.

Yes, they can be crossfired, but you shouldn't do that. You'd be much better off upgrading to a new gpu at that point.
