Last night I tried to get an old sound card I had laying around working, although I wasn't able to get it working, I uninstalled the drivers, turned the integrated audio on my motherboard back on and went to go use it but it doesn't seem to be working. Windows detects the speakers when I plug them in and it seems to be working just as they did before but I'm not getting any sound out of the computer I know it is not my speakers, I have tested those separately and they work fine. I am just out of ideas and any more would be appreciated.

@Somebody777

This could be the audio drivers are corrupted or missing or you have another device as default other than onboard audio device.

Check your device manager and see if you have any yellow triangles which indicates driver errors of some kind. Also check to see if you are plugged into the motherboard to be able to use the onboard audio device.

well have you tried turning it off and back on. a friend of mine had a similar problem after the next restart it worked also have you looked in the device manager if the sound card was indeed detected. have you made sure the sound isnt muted and the volume is up and that you have the right audio device selected. i know this is all very basic but somtimes you might just miss a very simple thing and are like derp.
