tomb raider GPU usage

Hey I've just completed tomb raider however fps was in the 40's and my GPU usage would go to 99% but dip to 80% is this a bottleneck or what? Frames didn't stutter and all 8 cores were used well this is with fx 8350

So was it bottlenecked or just badly optimised and yes shampoo was on haha

Yea it was pretty great. But TressFX is still a bit clunky.

Well, it's pretty heavy on the system, but i have no issues with the tech tbh. No dips below 60fps atleast.

What video card?  Seems pretty low for TR.

 

Anyway, could be tressFX I guess.  I would just do a clean driver install if you're worried.

That doesn't sound right to have dips to 80% GPU usage on an FX-8350. I had horrible GPU usage when I was using my G3258 but with my Xeon it is almost always 100%. When I played with the RivaTuner display on it only seemed to utilize three cores though. TressFX should definitely be turned off if you have an Nvidia card less than a 970 though. I have heard it's a huge performance killer for 600 and 700 series cards. It eats away about 10-15FPS on my 970, but I like the effect and can still keep a locked 60FPS with it on.

I just had a quick 5min play or tomb raider

On ultra details I average around 58-60fps with 1 or 2 drop downs to 42 ish FPS

using about 98% gpu and about 1600-1700MB Vram
 

oh forgot to add i'm playing @ 1920 by 1080 with a 60hz refresh
(tomb raider wants to default to 24hz so i have to change it everytime I launch the game)

My guess is if you turn it off, you'll see 80-90 FPS easily.
