Can you Delid a solderd IHS? Look Inside

First crack at this. turned out pretty good. chip was already dead. E6300 Im going to attempt to do a working chip (celeron 430) and see if i can re-lid it with solder paste + reflow.

 

Maybe attempt to do a Pentium g3258 if I have a great success.

 

The question is.

 

Do you prefer your keychain with or without a lid?

Not sure what the point is though, a soldered IHS will give you better temps than a delidded chip unless you're just doing it for fun

i would like to try on a g3258. this was a first test. next test, celeron 430.

 

it was fun to see that puppy slide off. The solder  remained molten for a long time, maybe I literally "cooked the chip".
