Hey guys need some help,

I just came across this video (

) and want to use this on my laptop but the problem is I am a complete noob and I don't know even if this will work with my laptop.

My laptop is Dell Inspiron 3542 i7 version. Ok so here are the questions :-

1. Does my laptop have a Mini PCI-E slot ( Yes i have a wireless card and it looks like the card in the video with two sticking out )

2. In this video (

) the guy says it doesn't work with some laptops... will it work with mine? Is there anyway to know?

3. Will there be a bottleneck? My CPU is an i7 4510U which is an okay-sh proccessor...

Appreciate the help!

Hello there,

I thinking about the same thing, but I need more information about it. What is the bandwidth of mini pci-e? and how it will effect gpu performance? I have acer aspire 8943g with i5-450M.

3. As they show in this video, old cpu can run tom raider or grid with decent performance. I think it will be all right with your  i7.

2. You never know... there is the list of compatible laptops on that page: http://www.banggood.com/EXP-GDC-Laptop-External-PCI-E-Graphics-Card-p-934367.html

1. So one way is to use instead of wifi module or look for second pci-e. My laptop has two of those.

I have seen this before and in my opinion I don't feel it is worth trying to run a desktop GPU on a laptop. I think if you can just build yourself a budget gaming build for your needs.

Something like this would be a good starter if you have the budget :
