The only thing I ever use Silverlight for... is Netflix. Netflix is now HTML5 on chrome. So it's not just google that's getting rid of silverlight support. Especially since Microsoft said they will basically kill off Silverlight. (in 2021..  a fair bit away, but might as well kill it off sooner)
