<p>Just got my Mpower board in today.  I have an I7-2600K that ran at 4.5GHz for a year, but once I actually did more than play wow, IE Play Crysis 3 or run Prime 95, I would blue screen due to voltage limitations (Auto).  My SATA controller was failing as well.  So here's my question, setting the voltage to auto on an Mpower and running @ 4.5GHz good or bad idea?  Also since I've already ran at these speeds, should I slowly adjust it as normal since the board is already tested @ 4.6GHz for 24 hours?</p>

EDIT: Where is a good voltage to start at?  According to HWMonitor it never goes over 1.044V with my old board.</p>

I often find that running voltages at auto when overclocking tends to skyrocket the voltage, shooting up your temps, and possibly damaging the CPU. I would try and manually find the lowest stable voltage and go with that. And If the computer BSOD's from P95, i wouldn't really consider that actually "running at 4.5ghz," at least not stably. :P

Ran it for over a year, just not on prime 95 xD

What is a good starter voltage for 4.5GHz? What about at 5.0GHz when add my custom loop?

i'd start with a higher voltage than you think you need then validate it with IBT running 20 time and then p95 for 10 mins and i it passes keep lowering voltage until it doesn't and then once you find your lowest stable voltage run p95 for 24-48 hours

can't say for sure, i don't have very much3e experience with the sandy bridge generation, just look up 2600k 4.2Ghz and see what others are getting and find a good starting point.
