Yes it will be compatible, I am using a GTX 970 with my FX-8320, no problems, the only thing is the the FX-4300 will bottleneck the GTX 970, not sure how much though.

It'll bottleneck a ton in any game that requires an ounce of CPU power. In BF4 my 960T (higher IPC than FX4 when overclocked) bottlenecked my 270 down to about 55% usage. Similar with FC4.

@Ethan7361 it'll work, just make sure you upgrade your CPU soon or else it'll be a waste of money.

My brother's 1045T bottlenecks his R9 270 to 50-60% usage in BF4 at least. I cringe  eri tiem. I need to get him something better. My borderline OC'ed FX-8320 bottlenecks my GTX 970 to around 80-90% Sometimes dipping to 75%. Also, in BF4 at least.

your motherboard is only a cheap 4 phase motherboard it can't really handle a 4 module FX like the FX-8320 for example...it can handle it at stock but it's likely that the CPU will be trottled due to VRM overheating...it would be better to sell your AMD kit online to the most offering and order a core i5-4460 and a cheap H97 motherboard as a replacement...performance wise it's also a lot better than an overclocked FX in games...much more power efficient too.

Hey I have an AMD FX 4300 CPU, Gigabyte 970A-D3P MB, and an AMD GPU I was wondering if I were to get a GTX 970 would I be able to use it with my current build?

You can do it, but the card will bottleneck.

That said, won't really stop you from playing anything.  It would run and probably play most games just fine.

Generally I would not recommend such a high end GPU with a low end CPU.  A better fit would be something like a 960 or 280x, especially if you're only playing games at 1080p.

I would say get a 280x instead and put the cost difference towards a CPU/mobo upgrade.

*depends on where you live and what kind of money you have access to.
