New Graphics card

RaVenBelgium

Hi

I'm looking for a graphics card that can play games on max settings at a resolution of 5760x1080 and still have 40+FPS, budget is max 800 euros/1000 dollars.

Anyone got any suggestions? ;)

CPU: Intel Core i7 4790K @ 4.4GHz (cooled by Corsair H110) Motherboard: ASUS Maximus VI Formula RAM: 16GB DDR3 1600MHz CL9 | GPU: ASUS GTX780TI-DC2OC-3GD5 Case: NZXT Phantom 630 Storage: Samsung 840 Pro 128GB + 3 x WD Black 500GB  + WD Black 1TB + WD Black 2TB + Kingston V300 120GB PSU: SeaSonic Platinum 660W Monitors: 3 x Iiyama ProLite XU2390HS-1 Keyboard: Logitech G910 Orion Spark Mouse: Logitech G502 Protheus Spectrum Mousemat: Steelseries QcK Heavy (40x45) Headset: Kingston HyperX Cloud II Speakers: Logitech Z906

what games are you playing and what is the rest of your setup. I would probably get a 780, even with your resolution your trying to play at you may want to look at the titan.

Heya,

Something like the GTX780 might be a good choice. You might struggle running all the latest games at max settings with one card over nVidia surround. The 3GB vRAM should be enough, but a 2nd GTX780 would work great and should give you 50/60 FPS.

If you can afford a little bit more the GTX Titan would work well with the 6GB vRAM which will be an advantage with the extra vRAM for them texture filters and 1080p triple resolution.

P.S Sorry for the UK reference sites (That's where I live  ^_^ )

BF3, AC3&4, Dirt 3, NFS Most Wanted (2012)... (Also I would like to play BF4 on max settings if possible)

OCZ Vector 128G & OCZ Vector 256GB

(Charts taken from Guru3D)

http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/geforce_gtx_780_sli_review,22.html

From these results, and your maximum budget of $1000, the following cards are within your budget.

Nvidia: 680, 780, Titan

AMD: 7970, 7990

So, I'd probably recommend the 7990 on AMD side, and 780 on Nvidia side (Titan is not worth the extra money on top of 780.)

EDIT:

For battlefield 3, the benchmarks show that the 780, titan, 7990, and 690 all are capable of pushing more than 40 fps at your resolution.

While the 780 has 44 FPS in BF3, the 7990 has 72 FPS.

AMD's 7990 has a large advantage over the Nvidia cards.  On top of that, it would be a good bet that AMD cards will perform better on Battlefield 4 as well, seeing as how all of the consoles are running AMD and such.

Definitely go for the 780, and maybe even get another later, as your PSU can handle 2 GPUs. Don't go for the 690. It has an effective 2GB frame buffer which is kind of sad for a $1000 GPU, doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

I know the Titan would be fine, but I'm not sure about the 780...

I was thinking about a 690 maybe, but that is just a bit too expensive.

DONT get a 690, it only has a 2gb frame buffer, which WONT be able to handle the resolution you want to game at. Highly recommend 780 for your setup or the titan if you are worried about not having enough VRAM.

You're right, but 1 780 will probably not be enough to play on max settings, so maybe I should wait untill the prices drop?

GTX 690... ? I mean, jesus. 5670x1080?

I use 2 x GTX 660 ti Power Edition (first edition with the full vCore unlock) and run 5760x1080. Granted most games I can't run on ultra max but I can run on high setting and full 1080p with average 50 fps.

BF3, AC3&4, Dirt 3, NFS Most Wanted (2012)... (Also I would like to play BF4 on max settings if possible)

Dirt 3 and need for speed 2012 FPS is super high on my set up so you shouldn't have any issues there. BF3 should be around 50/60fps (might dip a little in intense battles with full texture settings on). Assassin's Creed should also be fine  ^_^

Battlefield is definitely the most GPU intensive on your list of games, and from the benchmarks, it seems that the 7990 is the clear choice, even beating out 2-way Titans.

Only downside to the 7990 is that it shares the vRAM for both GPUs. Essentially 3GB vRAM per GPU which might bottleneck the GPUs when running ultra high/max settings and textures on a 5760x1080p resolution.

Personally, I would go for a 780 now and maybe get another later, the TITAN will never be worth it. Unless you truly can utilizes its 6GB of VRAM. But, the 780 should be able to run the resolution you want on ULTRA settings with the games you listed at the frame rate you requested.

I read in another topic that 670 SLI beat the 780, so maybe I should go with that?

I was kinda hoping Linus would do a test on the 780 for 5760x1080 resolution...

If it plays BF3 on max setting and +40FPS, I'm good with the 780

If you can get your hands on 2 4GB vRAM cards (for cheaper or around the same price), go for it. Just so you know, 2GB will not be enough. 3GB+ is best for triple surround  ^_^ .

A 2GB 680 plays BF3 at 2560x1600 at 44 FPS. If you can kind of guess the performance increase you get from 680->780 you shuold be able to play beyond 40 fps at the resolution you want, do realize with that resolution you probably wont need AA.
