Often a BIOS update is required to allow support for large drives. If yours is up to date already try looking for a setting in the BIOS itself.

when i installed/formatted new hdd its only showing me 1.5tb instead of the full 6tb. i had a wd red6tb hdd. how do i fix it so i could see the whole capacity of hdd.

Could you list your parts here? Some of them might be causing this. 
How is the drive recognized in BIOS? Could you also post a screenshot of disk management?
