ram problem - black screen problem

Igorot_Jay

Gtx 970 strix

I7 4790k

512 gb ssd

Nzxt x61

Formula vii

If I insert both ram in the ram slot. ( the same colour) I get black screen although system still starts. If I remove one and restart, it boots normally. WTF?

Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this?

I had the exact same problem the other day! For me it was because my RAM was running at 1333Mhz and not its actual 1600Mhz (I don't know why this stops the PC from booting properly, but it does :/ ). So boot the system (so in your case, remove one stick to allow it to boot normally) and load the BIOS, change your RAMs clock speed to what it should be, rather than the motherboards default. Put both sticks back in and viola!

(Well it worked for me anyway... good luck  :D )

So it worked??

Took me 3 hours to figure that out after installed my new mobo a couple of weeks ago, no solutions on the Internet worked, I just happened to notice my RAM was running at the wrong speed.

Don't see why that stops the PC booting properly though lol

maybe you may need a BIOS update

the update may have better stability for models of RAM
