I am starting a new project build and I am doing some custom sleeving. (I will be sure to post a thread in build logs, it's my first custom designed computer)

Anyways, I removed all the pins from the 24-pin connector and I wanted to make sure that isn't an issue. As long as I get the color/voltages right on the wires, it doesn't matter which one goes where in the 24-pin correct? I no longer remember which wires were where but I assumed the voltages were the only things that mattered.

Depends on the PSU, one cable wrong and you have a dead CPU/mobo/RAM/all of the mentioned.

Unless you got a super fancy high end PSU, its all color coded.

Black is ground

Orange is 3.3V

Red is 5V

Yellow is 12V

Green is for PS#

Gray is for power on

Purple is 5VSB

Its all in there.

Also: Don't just say Black goes to wherever a black is.  You will want to try to make it as untangled as you possibly can, to look nicer.

Actually I have the same question. The 24 pin cable for my PSU has all of the cables going to different slots. Like the orange goes to where orange should be and black etc, but they arnt exactly the same positions as the other end of the cable (modular)

So it shouldnt matter which cable goes where, as long as the colours are correct?

find a diagram and label all of the connectors with a number then make yourself a little drawing of a connector and put the number of the wires where they should go.

I think a lot of you misunderstood me. I am very aware that I can look up a pin-out diagram for the 24-pin (which I did) I was simply wondering if it mattered which wire of that color went to a given slot.

I already contacted OCZ and they said it is fine as long as the colors are right.
