Hey there,

I'm planning a 2000 euro build for end 2015, (yes, I know I'm early, but it has become kinda a hobby for me, virtually building computers), and I've stumbled on to two variables that change the whole build: as you might aspect, AMD or Nvdia, and Intel or AMD. Before I go into the gathered specs, let's get a few things out of the way.

I live in the Netherlands, so sorry for any bad English,

my budget is 2000 euro witch also include two monitors, because I think that's the amount of money I've gathered at the end of the year,

the build is for gaming and for gaming only, I want to play games like Battlefield 4 with frames not dipping below 50fps,

I'm planning on using one 1440p/144hz monitor, and a second 1080p/60hz monitor as second screen wile gaming,

I have a good mouse, and I don't need a good keyboard, that will come later, and I'm not in need of an OS,

I'm building this because the PC I have now is a crappy pre-build 400 euro rig with an self upgraded R9 270 in there.

Of each variable I've made a list of pros and cons:

First of all, AMD vs NVidia:

AMD pros:

- Mantle

- Freesync

- Price?

AMD cons:

- Not out yet (R9 300 series)

NVidia pros:

- G-Sync

- GeForce Experiance

- Shadowplay

NVidia cons:

- Price G-Sync

The struggle I have is that if i go for a 980, I will also get a Asus RoG Swift monitor, witch cuts of half of my budget. If I go for NVidia, I will get a 980 WindForce and upgrade to SLI later. AMD I'll just have to wait and see.

Because I can't really decide yet, this isn't much of a problem (yet), so let's move on.

Intel vs AMD:

The competitors are of course the i5 4690k and the FX-8350. I really need your opinion on this. The i5 has less cores and is twice as expensive, but I don't know if I will use all of the FX's eight cores if my rig is primarily for gaming, even with Windows 10 core optimization. And of course the motherboard also depends on this variable. It will be the Asus M5A99FX Pro R2.0 If I go with AMD, or the MSI Z97-G55 SLI if I go with Intel. I really don't know what to do on this one, so I'm looking forward to your opinions.

RAM:

DDR4 or DDR3? I honestly don't know. I've tried to look it up, but I want experienced opinions on this.

The things I do know are:

Case:

Will be an NZXT Phantom, don't know wich one yet.

PSU:

A full modular 650 Watt from Corsair: Corsair HX650

Storage:

2T WD Caviar Blue,

256 Samsung SSD.

Also, if you haven't noticed yet, I'm going for a blue color scheme. (Mobo is blue, Windforce had blue leds and NZXT has Blue Led Fans)

Recommendations for CPU Coolers are also welcome.

Thanks already and I appreciate all comments.

CPU: It all depends on Zen and skylake which one to go for

RAM: DDR4 or DDR3 depends on which platform you go for. Skylake can do both, Zen will probably do both as well but Broadwell will be DDR3 only. DDR3 has no benefit over DDR4 for gaming

Case: YOu picked an overpriced plastic one IMO

PSU: Way too expensive for what you get back. EVGA G2 750W would be the better choice

GPU: Again, depends totally on what happens up until end 2015. The R9 3xx series will be out but Nvidia might come with the 1000 series (follow up to 900 series) or the 980Ti or something similar

There is absolutely NO POINT WHATSOEVER in planning a pc now that you will not build until Q4 2015

RIG: I7-4790k @ 4.5GHz | MSI Z97S SLI Plus | 12GB Geil Dragon RAM 1333MHz | Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970 (1550MHz core/7800MHz memory) @ +18mV(Maxed out at 1650/7800 so far) | Corsair RM750 | Samsung 840 EVO 120GB, 1TB Seagate Barracuda | Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 (Closed) | Sound Blaster Z                                                                                                                        Getting: Noctua NH-D15 | Possible 250GB Samsung 850 Evo                                                                                        Need a console killer that actually shits on every console? Here you go (No MIR/Promo)

This is why you should not get an FX CPU for ANY scenario other than rendering on a budget http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/286142-fx-8350-r9-290-psu-requirements/?p=3892901 http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/266481-an-issue-with-people-bashing-the-fx-cpus/?p=3620861

-snip-

You forgot to include 2 monitors
