Because of the horrible UI.

@Cs342, yes it works fine, I've done it before. If it asks you to authenticate, you can use something called daz loader to get rid of it.

if you download startisback you get rid of the metro ui and you get the performence of windows 8

If its a retall copy of windows you can install it as many times as you like. worst that can happen is after a motherboard change  you have to validate your code over the phone...

OEM's are tied to the machine it was first installed on, you can change the HDD/SDD in that machine though and it will install fine. But put it on another machine or install a new motherboard you will have problems. You will have to speak to Microsoft and convince them that you have had to change the motherboard do to a failure, Pretty easy to do.

So as long as I don't change the motherboard, I can reuse the OEM disc as many times as I want? How does this work?

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

In theory yes....but you may have to ring Microsoft after the 3rd install to activate or something, i forget.

It links the product key to the motherboard model in Microsoft's data base when you activate it, id imagine, you can swap out the motherboard for one of the same model.
